Bucknell University: Feels Like Home

This past weekend I drove up to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, home to Bucknell University. The second I drove up to the campus I was blown away. Students were making their way to class, walking across the perfectly cut green grass. The buildings looked very nice and were all made of red brick. The first thing I noticed was their football stadium, which actually turned out to be nicer than I thought.

I walked up to the admissions office and took the tour of the campus. The girl we had was a senior and told us how much she loved Bucknell and how she thought she would love a huge school. The great thing about Bucknell is that everything seems to be in walking distance. The academic quad is great because the entire courtyard is wireless, which means one can bring his/her laptop and do work outside. The classrooms were a decent size and our tour told us that the max class size would be about 40 students. That makes sense since the school has about 4,000 undergraduate students.

All the dorms at Bucknell have air conditioning and are pretty nice, with a lot of room. One of the major things that blew me away was how nice everyone was, especially at the athletic complex. I was able to meet the assistant coach for the Bucknell Bisons football team. He was very helpful and I also got to meet the recruiting coach. The athletic complex was brand new, with a huge area to lift and run. The facilities at Bucknell are definitely an incentive to go there.

Bucknell is located in central Pennsylvania and is pretty much by itself. There is a main street close to campus that all the students love to go to. BU costs close to $40,000 per year for tuition and board. It is pretty selective and is a private institution. Do not let these factors disway you from looking at Bucknell. It has a gorgeous campus, everything kept nice and clean. Along with that, the people are friendly and there are just the right amount of people to interact with.

Bucknell also has a great sense of school pride. Basketball games at Bucknell are huge and mostly eveyrone goes to them. Football games are also big at Bucknell. The Greek Life at Bucknell is great because there are frat houses right on campus. However, sororities are in a building, with individual floors, instead of individual houses. Many kids decide to live on campus for the time they are there, but some decide to live off campus for junior or senior year. All in all, Bucknell is a great place that incorporates amazing academics, athletics, and college atmosphere.

Nittany Lions On Top

A great campus town, thousands of people to interact with, an amazing football team-what is more to ask of Penn State at University Park?

At 210 Old Main, University Park, PA, lies one of the most insane party schools, with a huge student body and large campus. Penn State is a great school and tends to prefer students from Pennsylvania since it is a state school. There are about 37,000 undergraduate students at Penn State University Park. Tuition differs for in-state and out-of-state students. An in-state student usually pays about $13,000, while an out-of-state one pays about $24,000.

Penn State is a very good state school that offers a wide range of majors to choose from. It has a great academic program, but has very large class sizes. There are many things to do around campus, such as joining fraternities, student government, and other forms of activities. Penn State is like a college in a city of its own.

Aside from good academics, Penn State is known for its athletics. The Penn State Nittany Lion Football Team has been a big part of Division I College Football for a long time and has legendary Joe Paterno as their head coach. Anthony Morelli is the veteran quarterback for the Lions and seems to be doing pretty good. So far Penn State is 3-0 in the Big Ten conference and play Michigan next. Other than a great football team, Penn State offers a wide variety of athletics for men and women such as golf, lacrosse, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and track & field.

For anyone looking for a large campus, at a decent price, with a lot of people to interact with, as well as a good education, then Penn State is the place to go. It's a lot easier for graduating high school students who live in Pennsylvania to get in, but if the grades are good out of state, then anyone could get in. Join the Penn State Experience!

What's Up With Notre Dame?

Seriously, what's goin on with the Fighting Irish? Notre Dame's notorious football team has started off the season with 2 losses. Aside from the fact that the football team is in shamble's and Charlie Weiss is feeling embarrassed, Notre Dame is a wonderful Division I school that most would die to go to. But, what makes Notre Dame so special?

The University of Notre Dame is located in an urban setting that is right in the heart of Notre Dame, Indiana. The school was founded in 1842 and has a Roman Catholic background. Notre Dame has a large student body that nears about 9,000 undergraduate students and is around $40,000 a year in expenses. It is also ranked the #19 on the list of the Top Universities in the Nation.

Notre Dame has a beautiful campus with old Gothic architecture and gorgeous buildings. A student could be immersed in its campus and the surrounded community. Notre Dame has a wide variety of majors to choose from and has a fairly good academic program. If one is choosing to study business, law, or architecture, then Notre Dame would be a good fit.

Athletics are a big part of every school and are definitely huge at Notre Dame. When people think of Notre Dame sports, they think about Rudy- the story about a tiny young lad who walks on to play for the Fighting Irish. The notorious football team has done pretty well in the past under Brady Quinn, who is now playing for the Cleveland Browns. This year the team is being led by freshman quarterback, Jimmy Clausen, who seems to be doing fairly well. Aside from the football program, Notre Dame has many other different men's and women's sports such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and golf.

Those who are looking to party at college will find that mostly anywhere they go. Notre Dame does party it up just as good as other schools, while providing a rigorous academic routine. Indiana may seem likes it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it is actually in a great town, with a great community, and provides many opportunities.
